This story blew my mind at first when I read/heard what was goin' on...
(Low Down on What Happened)
Ok...basically this kat was with one of the most powerful gangs in Jamaica, the Shower Posse. So Christopher "Dudus" Coke was powerful enough to provide his neighborhood(Tivoil Gardens)money and assistance for education and healthcare. But heres the flip side, Coke had to be deported back to the U.S. to face weapons and drug charages which only led to weeks of terror and fear in streets of Tivoil Gradens. For weeks the Shower Posse led a on going war with the Jamaican police that killed 76 people and the residents of Tivoil Gradens aided Dudus and his gang help in fighting police only because he supported that community while other Jamaicans wanted him gone because the gangs in Jamaica have grown way too powerful and have corrupted politics long enough. In short, they arrested one person but the problem is still there because in Jamaica(forgive me if I'm wrong)politicians basically use drug dealers to win over poorer communities(i.e. funding education and healthcare). Plus Jamaica is like a rest stop between the North and South America drug smuggling route.
Well...in reality this story is sad because at the end of the of the day, nobody really wins a big prize. 1. Jamaica gets a temporary win because they took down one of the biggest "Dons" in the drug game. But at the same time it doesn't take long for someone to take his place while his in jail. 2. Some of the people of Jamaica are suffering because they don't have the resources to have a good education, healthcare and etc. But this is the biggest, 3. The only people who are wining is the government only because they allow so much to come into a country(U.S., U.K., Colombia, etc.) and they profit from it all...so there is really no war on drugs otherwise weed would've been gone since the 30's, cocaine would've never made its way into the noses of celebs which means crack would cease to exist and so on.....but you don't here doe
